The Show Ring
I have been raising llamas since 1992 & have been active in the show ring about the last eight or nine years. The show season runs from April through October; showing at all different locations throughout the United States.  The animals must be registered & are judged in classes defined by their age, sex & wool coverage.  They are judged in various ways, but confirmation & correctness are number one. The presence of the animal, the way it walks & it's behavior are also factors in judging.  The judge must also be able to touch your animal.

Showing my llamas gives me an opportunity to meet many new people & to see first hand, the qualities & confirmation of well bred llamas. Placing well in the show ring, showcases the quality of ones animals. I was thrilled to have my first "Grand Champion" in June 2002, at the "Wine Country Classic", showing "Tallulah" (see her on my females for sale page).

The grooming & preparation for a show takes a lot of work & patience & is asking much of your llama to stand quietly while being brushed, bathed & blown dry. Keeping them clean & dry until the show is a real challenge.

All in all, the show ring is a good experience for the handler & the llama. The llama has acquired an additional measure of patience to stand, walk on command & to accept being handled in a more positive way.

Another phase of showing is the "Obstacle Course" which is fun for everyone to watch as the llamas navigate the course with different degrees of difficulty. We often have "obstacle trained" llamas for sale.
